Sunday School Classes
The Woodruff Class is composed of 70 Christians of age 55 or above. The group is a good mix of singles and couples. The class uses the Methodist International lesson series format for both lecture and discussion. Quarterly films also supplement the curriculum. The class is very active in both the church and the surrounding community. Current projects include Bibles for grammar school students, prayer shawls for the needy, sponsorship of a yearly college scholarship, emotional support for church families, and periodic visits of church shut-ins. The class has expanded its internal activities to include weekly dinners for members and quarterly parties for added fellowship.
Beaty-Gray Sunday school class is a multi-generational group that looks to grow in discipleship in our community. The class has 5 excellent teachers that rotate each month presenting God’s word and leading in-depth discussions. The class uses the Methodist International lesson series format for both lecture and discussion and also uses films to supplement the curriculum. The class is very active both in the church and the surrounding community. They have get-togethers several times during the year outside of church, which strengthens their sense of fellowship and community.
The Seeking Believers Sunday School Class is an adult (discussion) class of mixed ages who enjoy fellowship together as they dive deeply into God’s Word to seek ways to deepen their spiritual life. Recently they started calling themselves the “3-D Christians” (you’ll have to visit the class to see what this means). Class time consists of prayer and study of the Bible as presented from various teachers on DVD such as Andy Stanley, Max Lucado, Chip Ingram and others – followed by in-depth discussion by members which is led by class facilitators. Presently the class is studying the Book of James by author and Bible teacher Francis Chan. The class also participates in various outreach programs such as collecting and distributing blankets, rain ponchos, etc., and feeding breakfast to street people once or twice during the winter. We also enjoy fellowship times outside the class which always enjoy a delicious meal and great fellowship! Come join us and learn how to become a “3-D Christian!!”

Our Sunday school classes encourage children to discover the love of Jesus Christ through activities and lessons from the Orange 252 Kids curriculum which is based on 3 basic, but powerful, truths modeled by Jesus in Luke 2:52. (”And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” NIV) The 3 truths are:
*I need to make the wise choice.
*I can trust God no matter what.
*I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
The teachers invite kids into a new understanding of how to grow in relationship with Jesus while having a fantastically enjoyable time! Our schedule is:

Special Needs Class
10:30-11:30 PEP Squad
This Sunday school class is a special needs ministry for special families with special kids- People with Exceptional Possibilities. It is our humble desire to provide Godly teaching based on the identical 3 basic, but powerful, truths and at the same time, allow parents/ caretakers to be able to truly worship without worry or interruption. We provide unity, respect, and regard to our families; we offer understanding and responding to their circumstances and needs.
Our schedule is as follows:
*Video (252 Kids)
We have a volunteer that is paired with each child to serve as a Buddy. Buddies help the child focus on the lesson, participate as much as possible, or take a break when needed. We make every effort to follow our schedule, but realize that circumstances may dictate otherwise depending on the needs of the children who are present. For redirection or playtime, children enjoy sensory and tactile related toys in a special quiet space with bean bag chairs and books.
We are a group of teenagers and young adults who gather together to worship, love, game, serve and seek the presence of Christ in our lives. We laugh together, cry together and, at times, fight with each other as we grow. We meet at Riverside UMC downstairs in the Youth Room on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights starting at 6:30pm. Our group also has functions outside the church such as baseball games, concerts, and lock-ins to name just a few. Click the icon below to catch us on Facebook!
